(More customer reviews)I bought this phone mainly because of the handset battery life since my wife was starting a job where she would need to be on the phone a lot, well this phone met our expectations and exceeded them. She was on a 9hr call with no interruptions from the phone needing a charge. The color screen is nice. I have not played around with the "upload" a ringer or pictures yet but that is no big deal to me.

Here is what I miss from my old Siemens GigaSet that this set replaced:

Answering Machine:
1.- When someone called and the answering machine picked up, you could hear the person leaving the message on all of the handsets. With this one, you can only hear the person from the base.

2.- You can only retrieve you messages from the base, no option to listen to them from the handsets like on the GigaSet.

3.- When listening to the message, the Caller ID entry for it is not displayed like on the old GigaSet, you have to go through the handset's CID log to figure out what number corresponds to that message by time and date.

Handsets:

1.- The CID logs are kept separate on each handset. It's not hosted centrally so you have to go to each handset to clear them. On the GiGaset if you cleared an entry from one handset, it was reflected on the others.

2.- Phonebook is not central either (Siemens was not central either but at least you could send entries from one handset to another so they were all the same, with this VTech one you have to manually enter them all in the individual handsets)

3.- Can't name the handsets, they are just numbers. So you have Handset 1, 2, 3 as opposed to the GigaSet where you could have say, Kitchen, Office, Bedroom.

What I like about this set:
1. Battery Life so far seems to be great. To boot there is a spare set of batteries that you can store (and charge) on the base.

2. The color screen is nice...don't expect great quality here, it's still a phone, but it beats the green light from the old GigaSet.

3. The handsets have a 2.5 mm jack for a headset, the GigaSet did not.

I hope this helps set your expectations when buying this phone.
